We decided we wanted to do a spinning ballerina in a box for our project. We used a DC motor to spin her, and also incorporated a small LED light at the top to give the effect of a spotlight/moonlight. We used cardboard to construct the box and paper mache along with tissue paper to build the ballerina and her dress. We also hung little paper stars to create a more night-time atmosphere.
Some improvements we could have made include making the motor go a bit slower (so she wouldn't look like she's on steroids). We were hoping the addition of the light would do this, but it was still fast. Had time permitted, we would've expanded this and possibly made it bigger with more attention to details in the decoration etc.
