Chloe's Object and Audio Self Portrait

For my self portrait I chose a bird cage as my object, on top of being an aesthetic choice, it also symbolizes my reserved personality and my roots; literally. I grew up in the country and have a huge attachment to the house in which I grew up. The audio, which is essentially radio noise switching from song to song is symbolic of the contrast between the country and the city, how I'm constantly flickering between both. The songs I chose are all associated to significant moments in my life. I chose to cover the bird cage with a sheer fabric pointing at my shyness, I decided to leave an opening in the drape to incite the viewer to really take a look inside.

I would love to do this project on a larger scale and have the light source inside the cage and have the cage completely covered by the drape and have the light cast intricate shadows on the drape and make the viewer guess at what is inside. I'd also love for the audio to come in clear when the viewer is near the cage and as they move away for it to become more noise like.
