Curtis Poad's Audio Self Portrait

Sound Portrait by Curtis Poad

With the majority of my time spent in front of a screen whether it be a laptop, TV, or phone, I decided that using a miniature TV would best represent this. The TV also represents my interest in different kinds of media like videogames, films and TV shows. The object was originally a pencil holder. I modified it by spray painting the TV black and cutting out the screen portion of the TV. I then put speakers inside connected to an mp3 player. Finally, I made a lid for the top complete with fake antenna.

I feel the audio does a better job at representing me however. I sampled many different sounds that relate to hobbies and interests I have. Plus I love all kinds of electronic music and have always had an interest in music production. Some of these sampled sounds include a skateboard riding on the pavement, a golf club htting a ball, a snowmobile riding by, some video game sounds and more. The rest of the audio is generated through various synths and automated effects used in FL Studio.
