Hi there,
My computerless algorithm was handed in before I had a chance to scan it, UPDATE - here it is! Thanks Myfanwy!
Essentially, it was designed to assess if any electronic devices were ON or OFF, then if ON, turn OFF and repeat, until "Peace and Quiet" was attained.
In the meantime, I've got a great video of Tino doing a tremendous job of running my program, it's below. I've password protected it, so to see it you just enter: aaidpm
Overall it worked far better than I thought… I suspected it would generate some outrage as Tino dutifully turned off other peoples' devices but the fact that no one seemed to think it was lame and that in general people "got" what I was trying to go for was a massive relief.
I love the thought that there could be some magical device or switch that would turn off all the devices. Having grown up mostly without the gadgets and ubiquitous, ever-present computers and cameras, I already pine for simpler times, and I feel less than optimistic envisioning the computers-and-robotics-centric worlds of tomorrow.
